Taylors offers taste of future

After a short stop at Tarlee (see story page 4), the Governor visited Taylors Wines at Auburn, which is currently undergoing a major redevelopment.

He was met by the winery’s chief executive Neil Jericho and owner Mitchell Taylor.

After donning hard hats and bright reflective vests, the group was escorted through to the bottling line to talk to manufacturing manager Andreas Reisinger.

They were told about the process of the bottling line and then made their way outside with chief winemaker Adam Eggins and senior winemaker Helen McCarthy to the storage tanks.

Mr Eggins talked about the area where the new tanks had been placed, explaining how geologists determined the type of rock in the side of the hill.

Once finished outside, the group then headed for the barrel shed to smell the breathtaking aromas of maturing wine.

Many different wines tried in the tasting room , accompanied by a history lesson on each, as well as discussion on the winery and its future.
