Young readers on special quest

7/05/2008 11:38:00 AM
Clare student Caitlin Pink enjoys a book or two and raised $164 after reading 15 books in last year’s MS Readathon.

“I just like to sit quietly and reading is good to do when it’s quiet,” Caitlin said.

She said she would like to raise more than last year in this year’s MS Readathon and she will also encourage her brother Ben to participate.

Caitlin is inspired to participate in the MS Readathon because her aunt’s brother suffers from MS.

Caitlin found “Andersen’s Fairy Tales” in her grandmother’s cupboard recently which has become one of her favourites.

In 2007 the Clare district read 356 books and raised $2863 to help change the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Children are encouraged to participate and register for the MS Readathon to receive a MS Readathon Starter’s Pack, with everything needed to collect sponsorship for the books they have read.

Forms are available from schools, libraries or, with the help of a parent, children can register online.

Head to www.msreadathon.org.au for more information.
