The Roosters have kept their unbeaten record intact with this 31-point defeat of Booleroo-Melrose-Wilmington at Wilmington.
Kicking to the northern end in perfect conditions Crystal Brook stamped its authority on the match from early in the first quarter.
In a sign of things to come, forward pocket Keagan Brinkley flat-footed BMW’s defence to score a brilliant opening goal at the seven-minute mark.
A few minutes later Matt Gale took a set shot that brought up two flags and when gun rover Joseph Slattery kicked a stunning goal at full tilt the visitors suddenly led three goals to zip.
It was 21-minutes into the term before BMW got on the board with a goal to Lachie ‘LJ’ McCallum who finished off a nice piece of work down the ground by Caleb Girdham and late inclusion Tom Carling.
The Lions went forward a few other times with good work coming from Jordan Arthur, Damien Smith and Jack Walter but Crystal Brook’s defence kept getting in the way.
Brinkley kicked his second goal after the siren to send the Brookies in with a 20-point lead at quarter time.
The tri-colours attacked from the opening bounce in the second term and they had a genuine chance to score after Dustin Berryman combined with Matt Foulis to get the ball inside BMW’s 50 but a hurried kick under pressure from LJ McCallum went wide for a minor score.
BMW struggled after that although Braden Battersby at centre half back and Berryman prevented many certain goal opportunities unfolding for the Rooster forwards.
Successive goals to Shane ‘Cleggett’ Arbon and Brinkley extended Crystal Brook’s lead though fortunately for the home crowd Lion forward Cameron McCallum was successful with a set shot from the left forward pocket at the 14-minute mark.
It was 7.5 to 2.5 at half time and after an uninspiring third term that produced just three goals in 29 minutes the red and white’s knew they had it in the bag.
They kicked the first two goals of the last quarter and held an eight goal lead which they threatened to extend by plenty.
But the homeside went up a cog and suddenly produced some startling football through the dominance of midfield players like Dion Strike, Casey McCallum and Caleb Girdham. In the end though it was an effortless win to Crystal Brook.
Their best began with Waylon Nielson who played his customary role of rotating through the midfield with considerable flair and ability.
Rover Joseph Slattery was very clever while Chris Stringer and Shane Arbon had some good moments.
Keagan Brinkley top-scored with four goals from a pocket and the Gale brothers were noticeable.
BMW’s best were Dustin Berryman, Casey McCallum, Braden Battersby, Dion Strike and Caleb Girdham.
Senior players Damien Smith and Jordan Arthur had their moments and raw young rover Jack Walter turned heads with a gutsy effort.
