Blyth hosts Lower North Open

CHAMPIONSHIP

Results, June 22

The Lower North Group Golf Association held their 2008 Open Championship at the Blyth Golf Course on Sunday 22nd June. Conditions were ideal for golf with many favourable scores being hit on a picturesque course.

Group President Roger Benger welcomed the 57 players to the Open and thanked all clubs for their support and participation to a great days play. Thanks was also extended to the Blyth Golf Club for hosting the day and to Rob Reimann of Gawler Caddieshack for his continued sponsorship.

Champion for 2008 was Bill Parkin of Balaklava with a 70 of the stick, runner-up John Nairn of Clare with a 73 after a count-back.

B Grade Champion: Adam Mitchell of Hamley Bridge with 76 and runner-up: Nigel Wright Kapunda 80. C Grade Championship: Russell Grigg of Two Wells with 85, runner-up Gordon Kakoschke of Burra with 86.

A Grade Stableford Winner was Murray Launer Two Well 44pts, R/Up Leigh Victor of Blyth 43pts.

B Grade Stableford Winner: P Sandow of Mt Pleasant 41pts c/b from M Taylor Pt Wakefield

C Grade Stableford Winner: Bob Taylor of Burra 41pts, runner-up - Jarred Olsen Pt Wakefield 40 pts.

Club Team Championship Winners from Clare with 305 were John Nairn, Paul Pridham, Tim Jenkins and Rowan Steele.

Club Team Stableford Winners from Burra 148pts was Joey Hancock, B Taylor, Gordon Kakoschke, G McDonald. Veterans Staleford Winner was Joey Hancock of Burra

Junior Stableford Winner was Tim Jenkins of Clare

Long Drive A Grade: John Nairn, B Grade: Mick Aworth, C Grade: D Hall. Nearest the Pin A Grade: Roger Elliot, B Grade: Joey Hancock, C Grade: Russell Grigg.
