New ladies course record for Clare

7/05/2008 12:03:00 PM
A new ladies course record was set at the Clare Valley Toyota Ladies Open Day 2008 on Friday.

Ebony Heard, from Kooyonga, set a new ladies course record of 73 off the stick.

Ebony grew up in Wilmington and played junior golf at Port Augusta.

She has played at Clare before, but had her best round at the course on Friday. Her current handicap is 1.

She was presented with some wine as an acknowledgement of her achievement and her card will be framed and put up in the clubhouse.

Ninetyone ladies from 18 clubs entered the competition on Friday. The weather was great and the lunch was highlight, particularly for those whose golf wasn’t.

18 ladies traveled down from Port Augusta to support the day.

Ebony Heard won the A grade gross event with 73 off the stick and Kylie Day from Clare won the A grade nett event with 69. Wendy Deayton from Mt Barker/Hahndorf was the B grade gross winner with 92 and Libby Essellbach from Mt Osmond was the nett winner with 72. Jan Norman from Clare won the C grade stableford with 39 points.

Tom Redden presented the trophies to the ladies and we sincerely appreciate Clare Valley Toyota’s support for women’s golf in Clare.

The club was supported generously by local businesses:

Tim Siv of Chemmart with the perpetual cup being presented to Ebony and vouchers given to the winners.

Annette Collins from Looking Good Boutique gave a gorgeous bag as a major prize in the raffle

and Roger Sutherland donated some bracelets from the Pandora range to be given as prizes on the day.

The day was a huge success made possible with the help of our members to cook and serve food, donate items for the trading table, run the competitions, spot on the course to keep the field flowing, check the cards and man the bar.
