Cowboys, cowgirls and thrill seekers took to the ground or a chair to watch the 71st annual Marrabel Rodeo on Sunday.
With more then 3000 people flowing through the gates organisers have said it was a great year.
“It was a beautiful day with no major injuries which was just great,” president, rodeo club, Mick Williams said.
With stalls, country clothing, petting zoo, sideshows and even pony rides everyone was satisfied from toddlers to the older spectators.
Mick also said the numbers are similar to those in 2006, as the 2007 rodeo was cancelled due to the Equine Influenza crisis.
Along with numbers being up there were also many interstate competitors who came from southern NSW and Victoria.
“The bullride was up about five or six riders to the competition in 2006, every year it varies but it’s always good to have a rise of any sort,” Mick said.
For the day there were only two successful bullrides one in the open and one in the second division.
The rodeo would not go ahead without sponsors and especially volunteers, and about 50 to 60 volunteers assisted on the day, selling food, cleaning up, and selling tickets or other various jobs.
“We are still unsure of how much was raised on the day, but it would have been classified as successful, money-wise,” Mark said.
Once the action in the main arena had finished it was time for the band to get going, which played well into the night and the big bonfire kept everyone warm.
Get along to the Marrabel Bullride Spectacular on Saturday February 28 from 7:30pm till late all under lights.
