Cats warm up with youth message

High school students who play football and netball for Blyth-Snowtown received free jumpers on Thursday night at a presentation at Snowtown, thanks to the Mid North Division of Rural Medicine to promote Youth Health.

The young players received the ‘hoodies’ from Clinical Psychologist, Maggie Nicholson, on behalf the division’s executive officer Kim Hosking.

The hoodies aim to make children aware of a “MySpace” website designed for youth who live in the Mid North.

The website contains accurate, relevant information about general health, mental health, drug and alcohol issues, relationships including sexual concerns that young people may wish to know about.

Maggie said that given the vast amount of inaccurate information available on the internet it is important to provide youth with accurate information in one place.

To gain access to the site type *~YoUtH HeAlTh~* - mndrm into an online search engine and it takes you to a link to the site.

Following the jumper presentations, the netballers and footballers enjoyed a barbecue supplied by the clubs.

The hoodies were made by FTM T-Shirts, and have the MySpace address on one side, and the Blyth/Snowtown Cats logo on the other.

The Blyth/Snowtown Netball and Football Club thanked the Mid North Division of Rural Medicine, executive officer Kim Hosking, and especially Maggie Nicholson, Derryn Stringer and Belinda Hemer for their great work in organising the jumpers.
