Riders converge on Auburn for pony paddock day

Auburn Pony Club had a great turnout for its “Pony Paddock Day” on April 27, despite the wet conditions.

Many happy faces were seen at the end of the day with all riders taking home prizes and brightly coloured ribbons. Riders came from Adelaide, Barossa Valley, Eudunda, Tarlee, Saddleworth, Marrabel and Balaklava to join in the fun.

A fantastic turn out in the fancy dress saw fairies, a lion tamer, cowboys, settlers-drovers families, lady bug, mermaid and three learners riding their hobby horses, making judge Jeanette Lowe’s decision a very difficult one.

The novelties were hotly contested especially the donut race with riders laughing so much it was making it difficult for them to actually eat their donuts.

All riders had a wonderful day, for many little riders their very first gymkhana.

“Sportmanship Award” for the Topsy Ring was Jermimah Watson and “Best Family Horse or Pony” for the Topsy Ring was Mary owned by the Nash-Brown Family.

“Sportmanship Award” for the Encourage Ring was Georgina Wigney and “Best Pony Club Mount and Rider was Sheazelle ridden by Sindy Brown.
